Derby's Street Lighting PFI Contract

The equipment being removed consisted of the following single column in 1997:

The following photographs were taken on Saturday, 19th March 2011.
No additional columns had been installed by the City Council since 1997; however, the road would see another column installed (visible on the left of the below photograph) for the PFI.
The column would originally have supported a 35 Watt SOX lantern, but ended its days fitted with an SGS 252 Iridium; this having been installed in the mid-2000s in response to antisocial behaviour in the area after nightfall.
The upward tilt of these brackets does not suit the design of the Iridium at all. Fortunately, the Iridiums installed on the new columns for the PFI would be attached to the column spigots.
