The following photographs were taken on Sunday, 10th October 2010; all of the lanterns that were installed on this road were Thorn Beta 5 35 Watt SOX lanterns.

The first Beta 5 to be pictured dated from the late 1980s or very early 1990s.

The angle of the bracket had caused dirt to gather in the lowest portion of the bowl.

The next installation must have lost its original bowl at some point, as the bowl from a Philips MI 26 had been fitted instead...

Two sturdy-looking cable ties secured the incorrect bowl to this lantern.

An inquisitive ring-necked dove was perched on the new Iridium at the time, so I decided to photograph that as well, just for completeness!

Ornithology lesson over, we continue along the road...notice that the next outgoing column is installed on the opposite side of the road to the new column. Several short cul-de-sacs lead off the main Countisbury Drive artery.

A stack of safety barriers were positioned alongside the next outgoing column.

More barriers were installed further along the road - the large yellow object is used for providing a temporary surface over excavations.

The height of the outgoing columns, from lantern to ground level, is just under five metres. This is why the new six metre columns appear significantly taller, especially at the perspective seen below:

The lamp fitted to this early 1980s' Beta 5 looked quite worn around the electrodes:
