Derby's Street Lighting PFI Contract - Field Rise, Littleover

New 8 m columns supporting Philips MA 90 90 Watt SOX lanterns were installed along the extended Field Rise when houses were constructed there in the 1990s. Owing to their relative newness, these columns were spared replacement in the early years of the PFI; however, the original section of the road, which had been lit with 35 Watt SOX lanterns attached to sleeved 5 m concrete columns, were replaced. The following inventory records date from 1997 and show the mixture of 35 Watt and 90 Watt lighting in use at the time. The columns identified in grey were replaced as part of the PFI scheme. Column 55226 appears to have been replaced by 101967, although the original intention may have been for the new column to be given the old column's number, given that it appears on the list as well.

The first few columns from Blagreaves Lane support Philips MA 90 90 Watt SOX lanterns of the separate gear type, but the majority of examples are of the integral gear type - I assume that the former were the first to be installed, with the lantern specification changing when the latter were due to be installed.

A couple more examples are seen further along the road.
