Derby's Street Lighting PFI Contract
Seale Street, Darley Ward
The equipment being removed consisted of the following items in 1997:
Seq. No. | Lamp Number | Location | Lamp Type | Watt | Isolation Point |
1 | 34433 | OS NO 1 | SXPL2 | 35 | Y |
2 | 34434 | OS NOS 4/5 | SXPL2 | 35 |
The following photographs were taken on Saturday, 11th June 2011.
As this road falls within the Chester Green Conservation Area, the new lighting came in the form of Metcraft 'Victoria' post-top lanterns attached to 5 m tubular steel columns; all powder coated in black. The two outgoing columns supported Thorn Beta 5 35 Watt SOX lanterns, dating from the early 1980s.
The second outgoing installation was positioned away from its replacement.
This close-up reveals that the lamp in this lantern would have soon required replacement anyway, as its outer bulb was beginning to blacken.
The new lantern only just fitted beneath the gutter of the adjacent house - only when access to the lantern's innards is required, will we find out whether the canopy's opening is impeded.
