The following photographs were taken on Saturday, 4th June 2011.
All of the outgoing columns installed along this road support pre-1981 Thorn Beta 5 35 Watt SOX lanterns.
As this road falls within the St. Edmund's Church Conservation Area, the new lighting here was a little different to the normal equipment installed on the PFI's relighting schemes - the columns are 5 m in height; painted black, and each would later be fitted with a Metcraft Victoria post-top lantern running a 45 Watt CPO-TW lamp.
The majority of the new columns were installed alongside an equivalent outgoing column.
Although the Beta 5s appeared to be integrally-geared, all were fitted with two-part photocells; a Zodion SS55 detector can be seen attached to this lantern's canopy.
The outgoing column installed outside the church had developed a noticeable lean over its years of installation.
A stack of safety barriers had been placed alongside this installation.
The lamp in this lantern looked about ready to require replacement.
Further along the road, the proposed position of another new column had been marked on the pavement; however, the column had not been installed at the time of photographing.
The new columns are slightly taller than the old installations.
