Local Kingswood Precincts

The Precinct was quite a rare lantern in this area, with the only examples seen in and around Derby's Arboretum Park, and Darley Abbey old village. Various lamp combinations existed - from 70 Watt-110 Watt SON, and 125 Watt MBF. All have been replaced with alternative heritage post-top lanterns as part of Derby's Street Lighting PFI in the mid-2010s.

This Precinct is installed on a plinth in Arboretum Square and runs an Iwasaki 110 Watt SON-E lamp - this type of lamp works with European 125 Watt mercury gear. Thanks to a number of photographs taken of this plinth in the past, previous lanterns fitted here are known, including a 1930s' Revo Spondon that survived until (at least) the mid-1970s. In its day, this was one of Derby's most prestigious areas...sadly things have changed a bit now, and many of the grand Victorian buildings are in a poor state of repair.
