Local Philips UrbanScenes
A number of the UrbanScene integrated lighting units can be found in Derby's Market Place. These were installed in approximately 2009 and replaced 8 m columns supporting Abacus AM 490 post-top lanterns, which had been installed in 1994 when the Market Place was pedestrianised.
This installation is pictured outside Derby's Assembly Rooms building. The luminaires fitted to the column are Philips CGP700s. The design of the UrbanScene system allows for multiple lighting units to be added, and then positioned/angled as required.
These lanterns all run CosmoWhite (CPO-TW) lamps, with the lamp control gear housed above the reflectors.
One of the fittings was dayburning at the time of photographing.
These lanterns are all fitted with Telensa 20 mm telecells, in order to allow for remote switching. Clearly, this unit has either failed, or has not been set up correctly with the base station.
