High Pressure Sodium and Metal Halide Lamp Control Gear
Control Components Ltd
Gear tray consisting of Control Components HCL/152/SE ballast, Smart & Brown 53282 ignitor, RIC LE3EF 20 μF capacitor (dating from April 1983) and MW M.231 sensor unit - notice that a standard brass bayonet lampholder is fitted alongside the GES lampholder for the 150 Watt SON lamp - this would normally accommodate a tungsten lamp; the idea was that the tungsten lamp would operate during the SON lamp's warm-up, in order to provide instant light at switch-on. Once the SON lamp was operating at full power, the tungsten lamp would deactivate automatically. These components may have been taken from a Courtney, Pope fitting, as a label on the lampholder carries their details.
