and welcome to the site. For many years, I have been interested in the somewhat unusual subject of street lighting. This interest resulted in the acquiring of my first lantern in 2002, and since then, I have acquired many more. With my collection now consisting of lanterns and associated running equipment from a variety of eras, I have been able to assemble something of a virtual history of street lighting in the United Kingdom (especially that of the Derbyshire area) through this site.
