Thorn Riviera 2

This lantern is older than my Riviera 1 - the NEMA socket is dated to 1999. In itself it doesn't look much older, however it is in need of pretty much a complete rebuild - not to mention a good clean. Several examples of the Riviera 2 can be seen in Derby City Centre - they were used as casual replacements for Alpha 3s and 8s for a time.

The lantern in its present form is a little...damaged - I am not quite sure how it ended up like this though! The advantage of having the lantern in pieces is that cleaning is made easier.

One or two birds have clearly used the lantern for target practice while it was in use! The gear tray did come with the lantern - it just wasn't fixed to anything!

Despite the dirt on the outside of the lantern, the inside of the canopy has remained very clean.

Three 16 microfarad capacitors are connected in series to make up a 48 microfarad capacitor.
