GEC Z5580 (x2)

Lanterns acquired in March 2006.

These two Z5580s were removed some time ago by a now-retired engineer at the council. Their original locations are unknown - they may or may not have been used on the same street. Both are missing their bowls, however they have retained their three-pin-bayonet lampholders, meaning that they would have used mercury lamps when in use.

The Z5580 on the right is clearly in better condition than the one on the left is. Therefore, I will attempt to restore this one first as I think it will be easier.

Depending on the wattage and type of lamp being used, the lampholder can be positioned in four different places. The Z5580 on the left has its lampholder set in the highest position, whereas the one on the right is set to a slightly lower one.
