Holophane 22610

Bulkhead acquired in December 2025. With thanks to Arlen Moulton for donating this fitting to the Collection. Its history is largely unknown; having been acquired during a house clearance session.

This bulkhead features an aluminium base section and hinged front cover. This supports the prismatic glass bowl ordinarily, with a slotted screw holding the cover in place in normal circumstances.

Four fixing screw positions are provided - one at each corner. Notice that the glass bowl is not symmetrical - although it will fit two ways around, to ensure correct optical performance, an indicator is moulded into the glass to confirm the correct position.

Where the metalwork was sheltered against a wall or ceiling, the original light grey paint finish remains. Everywhere else has lost its paint through corrosion to the aluminium.

A single 40 Watt GLS (incandescent tungsten filament) lamp is installed within the bulkhead. A removable circular glass refractor positioned behind the lamp provides additional optical control.

'Lampholder end' is moulded into the glass as the way of determining how it should be installed.

'Made in England' is visible on the next edge.

'Holophane 22610' is on the third edge - this being the only identification on the whole bulkhead, and is likely to refer to the part code for the glass itself, rather than the entire bulkhead.
