70 Watt
Date code 08 = August 1982
Date code 15 = March 1983
This elliptical lamp features an unusual pearl coating to the outer bulb - it is believed that the machinery used by Atlas in the 1960s to make their 80 Watt pearl mercury lamps was re-used in order to produce these SON lamps.
Date code 20 = August 1983; came with the Thorn Precinct bulkhead.
Slightly later lamp; date code 57 = September 1986
150 Watt
SON-E Deluxe; date code 11 = November 1982 - this lamp came with the Thorn Alpha 8 lantern.
SON-E; date code 76 = April 1980 or 1988. This, and an identical lamp are used in the Gamma 4 post-top lantern.
