The following photographs were taken on the 4th April 2010 - Easter Sunday. The outgoing columns had all been removed by Friday, 23rd April 2010.

Unique on (but not to) this estate was this top-entry Thorn Beta 5 fastened to a side-entry-to-top-entry converter bracket. This received a replacement lamp on the 29th March 1999, and again on the 7th January 2003, when its photocell was changed also (the present Royce Thompson Monostar 1000).

Returning to lanterns of a side-entry configuration, a Philips MI 50 was the second lantern seen along the road. The records for this mention photocell changes on the 24th April 1996, the 5th October 2004 and the 14th March 2006, with the latter two dates also corresponding with a lamp change; something also done on the 24th June 1999. Jeremy replaced virtually every component (the lamp, ballast, ignitor and fuse) during a repair visit on the 7th January 2008. Days before the column was removed, the final re-lamp occurred, on the 15th April 2010.

The column in the foreground here supported a side entry Beta 5; the order for replacing the installation being raised on the 15th August 2000. The ballast, lamp and photocell of the previous column's lantern were changed on the 27th April in that year. A GEC Z9532 on a 1970s/80s' column can just be seen further along the road, as can a shadow of a new Philips Iridium on the blue garage in the background. The Z9532 received a new photocell on the 22nd April 1996, followed by a ballast and lamp change on the 18th August 1997, another new lamp on the 4th October 1999, a ballast and lamp on the 14th March 2000, and a final new photocell on the 29th July 2004.

Two new columns straddled another column supporting a Z9532. This gained a new photocell on the 2nd August 1996, a new lamp and ballast on the 8th July 1998, and the same again (and a photocell) on the 27th July 2000. The final lamp change (using a second-hand lamp) occurred on the 19th January 2010.

A 35 Watt integrally-geared Simplex Aries lantern was next; this had received a new lamp on the 14th June 1999.

A new mid-hinged column was installed at the entrance to the footpath leading to Stanage Green:

Back on the main carriageway, another column fitted with an Aries was seen. The records indicate that the photocell was changed on the 22nd April 1996, and again two days later, for some reason. This lasted until just shy of four years later, when it was replaced on the 3rd April. A new lamp arrived on the 8th September 2000, with this process repeating again on the 12th June 2002 (when a new ignitor was also introduced). The present Zodion SS3DR was fitted, along with a lamp, on the 1st December 2005. This photocell was, in turn, replaced with a second-hand unit on the 10th August 2009.

The footpath located adjacent the first Aries seen on this page was lit with Philips XGS 103s on 5 m mid-hinged Fabrikat columns in April 2000, funded by a contribution from Severn Trent Water ; these columns are therefore not listed on the above inventory list, but are included on this later list instead:

Lamp Number Location Lamp Type Watt
DY1122 1ST IN F/PATH TO BRIERFIELD WY - REAR NOS 26/28 SXPL 35
DY1123 2ND IN F/PATH TO BRIERFIELD WY - JUST BEFORE BRIDGE OVER HELL BROOK SXPL 35
DY1124 3RD IN F/PATH TO BRIERFIELD WY - AFTER BRIDGE OVER HELL BROOK SXPL 35

When new, Royce Thompson Oasis 2000 photocells were fitted to the lanterns; these were subsequently replaced with the PFI's 'standard' cell - the Royce Thompson SC1000. A new 6 m mid-hinged column supporting an Iridium was installed on the section of footpath between the Aries and the first XGS 103 (hidden behind the conifer tree) - that lantern receiving a fresh lamp on the 7th December 2004:

Of course, the XGS 103s were to disappear under the PFI. This example received its SC1000 photocell after the previous one was found to be missing on the 29th September 2009.

The third and final XGS 103 linked into the lighting on Brierfield Way. It received a new lamp on the 13th August 2008, when its bowl was also re-secured, and a new photocell on the 5th October 2009, when its original photocell had also been lost.

One footpath column that had been installed for longer than the XGS 103 columns originally supported a GEC Z5698U; however, this was damaged in June 2006, and a WRTL Arc subsequently installed in its place on the 22nd June. Prior to that, the Z5698U's last lamp changes had been on the 5th October 2001, and on the 6th October 2003, when its photocell was also replaced.
