Uffa Magna, Mickleover
(The name 'Uffa Magna' dates from the days of the Domesday Book - the area now known as 'Mickleover' was once known as 'Ufra Magna'; later this was changed to 'Uffa Magna'. I know because I was there at the time...)
The columns being removed on this road were:
Seq. No. | Lamp Number | Location | Lamp Type | Watt | Isolation Point |
1 | 98939 | 1ST FM HEDINGHAM WY | SXPL3 | 35
2 | 98940 | RR BARN COTTAGE | SXPL3 | 35
3 | 98941 | OS BARN COTTAGE | SXPL3 | 35 |
The following photographs were taken on Sunday, 21st March 2010. The outgoing columns were gone by Friday, 26th March.
This Thorn Beta 5 (attached to a very angular swan neck bracket) 's bowl would often contain a pool of water towards the rear, particularly after a heavy rainfall. This occurred for as long as I can remember (last Thursday, then...) and probably even beyond that, but never seemed to affect the operation of the lantern.
Curiously, the other Beta 5 did not appear to suffer with the water ingress problem to quite the same extent as the first lantern did.
