Local Urbis Citea NG2s
The Citea NG2 made its first appearance in Derbyshire in late 2023, as a replacement lantern for a few of the twin-lamp 140 Watt CPO-TW (Cosmopolis White) Cabrios on Corporation Street in Derby City. Given that this is alongside the Council House, the installation of these lanterns could be a trial to determine the suitability of installing them throughout the City in the future as a cost-saving measure.
Two columns suppoting Citea NG2s are seen in this view. The Council House is to the right, the former Magistrates' Court (now the Riverside Chambers) is in the background, while Derby's infamous long-closed (2014) Assembly Rooms are to the left.
Two LED panels, each containing 40 LEDs, produce the required lumen output for each lantern. Probably not intentionally, but this echoes the twin-lamp Cabrios that existed here previously, as well as the twin-lamp Atlas Alpha 8s that used to exist along this road some fifty years earlier.
This view shows how the new lanterns bear a close resemblance to their predecessors, along with the older Eclatec Elipt 55s that exist elsewhere in the City Centre, and may also end up being replaced with these fittings.
The lanterns are equipped with Telensa radio nodes that link to the City's Central Monitoring System for street lights.
This installation is also on the Council House roundabout, with the Quad arts venue and a TrentBarton ADL E200MMC in 'Nines' livery punctuating the background.
Unlike the Cabrios, which had a slightly bowled underside, the Citea NG2's underside is flat.
