109DE. Ginhouse Lane, Rotherham, South Yorkshire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of this Survivor. Installed within a compound for an industrial premises is a 20 ft (6 m) Stanton concrete column supporting a Thorn Alpha 3 lantern. This mounting height is unusual for the Alpha 3, which usually, is installed atop 8 - 10 m columns. This appears to be the only 'original' installation remaining on the site, with other 25 ft (8 m) columns on the opposite side of the road (and belonging to the same company) having been adapted to take post-top lanterns and floodlights.

No other Alpha 3s were visible on the site, after this one.

The concrete in both the bracket and column still appears relatively clean and smooth.

The presence of refractor prisms along the underside of the bowl confirms that this is a later Thorn version of the Alpha 3.
