109FA. Edge Dell, Scarborough, North Yorkshire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of these Survivors. Installed on this short section of road leading off Stoney Haggs Rise (itself leading off Seamer Road, following earlier road realignment work) are two 15 ft (5 m) Byway-'X' columns made by Concrete Utilities, and supporting lanterns from GEC's Z5580 series. These are designed to run an 80 - 125 Watt MBF (mercury vapour) lamp, or a 60 - 200 Watt GLS (tungsten filament) lamp, and probably still run 80 Watt lamps to this day, as the road appears to be un-adopted by the local Highway Authority, reducing the likelihood of these lanterns being replaced with a newer type.

The first column is located just up from where the road becomes Edge Dell.

The glass asymmetrical refractor bowl identifies this lantern as a Z5581B.

Looking up at the lantern from directly below reveals that it is very slightly out of alignment.

The other installation was much the same, save for the Z5580 using a different bowl.

As this lantern uses a polycarbonate 'Plastifractor' bowl, it can be identified as a Z5581BP.

This lantern is aligned completely wrongly, though as the bowl is so discoloured through UV degradation anyway, this is unlikely to matter any longer.
