112H. Luton & Dunstable University Hospital, Lewsey Road, Luton, Bedfordshire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of this Survivor. Installed alongside the hospital's Department of Microbiology building is a Thorn 14 ft (4·26 m) 'Lucerna' aluminium column fitted with a Gamma 2 post-top lantern for two or four 2 ft (600 mm) 40 Watt fluorescent lamps. With Thorn ceasing production of the Gamma 2 after 1972, this installation was (at least) 50 years old in 2023.

The presence of a wall-mounted floodlight adjacent the installation suggests that it may no longer be in use.

The acrylic canopy has retained its light blue colouring, although this has faded on the aluminium base casting.

Despite its age, the installation still retains a modern appearance.

Dirt has formed along the length of the bowl seam, but thanks to the acrylic's smooth finish, this is kept to a minimum.
