12EB. Little Common, Stanmore, London Borough of Harrow Installed on this cul-de-sac are several 5 m columns dating from the late 1980s / early 1990s, which still support their original Urbis ZX12 lanterns, and probably run 70 Watt SON-T (tubular high pressure sodium) lamps. These ZX12s are particularly notable as they feature the original method of opening the canopy for maintenance purposes - two orange plastic toggles that are positioned on top of the canopy. Later versions saw the toggles replaced with stainless steel clips located at the back of the canopy, as seen on my ZX3.

The first installation to be pictured sees the ZX12 mounted post-top to a sheet aluminium column.

The lanterns all feature prismatic polycarbonate refractor bowls, which have discoloured over the years. A SELC / Westire 8480 photocell features prominently on the canopy, while one of the orange plastic toggles can be seen to the left.

A largely similar installation existed nearby.

Potentially, the ZX12's original photocell, a Haromarkt S90, was still fitted.

This hockey stick column was positioned rather oddly - it was set back some distance from the carriageway in a grass verge.

This ZX12 also accommodated an S90. The lack of the toggle clips here (and presence of a length of black insulation tape instead) suggests that the toggles may have broken off through plastic fatigue here.

The rear portion of the canopy also looks slightly out of position, in relation to the (fixed) front portion.
