12IA. Stafford Road, Croydon, London Borough of Croydon With thanks to Alex Monk for informing me of these Survivors. Installed on the section of road near to Waddon Railway Station are several surviving  25 ft (8 m) fluted Stewart & Lloyd tubular steel columns, with three of these continuing to run GEC Z9464 90 Watt SOX lanterns in late 2023 - the Z9464 being the gear-in-head version of the basic Z9454. Some of the other nearby columns supported early geared Philips MA 90 lanterns instead, with the gear being housed in a separate aluminium shoe, rather than within the lantern itself, as existed with later versions.

This column, complete with an A232 route confirmation sign, is near the junction for Fernleigh Close.

The close-up image reveals that there is slight damage to the bowl's rear hinge.

These columns have a distinctive sideways-opening door, which is locked with two coach bolts, and a rather substantial weather bar above it.

The next column on this side of the road was much the same.

The last column still running a Z9464 had a shorter outreach bracket. Some of the bowl refractor panels were missing, revealing the reflector over the lamp that concealed the control gear.
