12N. Bedale Street, London Borough of Southwark Thanks to Alex Monk for informing me of this Survivor. Situated beneath one of the bridges supporting some of the railway tracks heading into London Bridge station, at the point at which Bedale Street becomes Cathedral Street, is an ELECO 'Goldenray Mk VII' HW-746 lantern. Although old enough to have accommodated a 45 - 60 Watt SO/H / SOI/H lamp when new, it was pictured fitted with a 35 Watt SOX lamp (the evolutionary successor of the 60 Watt lamp) in July 2023, although I am not certain as to whether it remains in operation or not.
A large AC Ford box, housing the fuse and the lamp control gear (and previously, the time switch (possibly) too), is attached to the wall of the bridge structure, with a simple curved bracket connecting the lantern.
For saying that the wall appears to be very damp, the installation does not appear to have been affected by these conditions.
A NEMA socket accommodating a Royce Thompson Oasis 1000 one-part photocell is the only major modification made to the lantern over the course of its lifetime.
A piece of the rear portion of the fragile Perspex bowl has broken. The stickers at the front of the bowl would denote the year that the lantern was re-lamped last.
