131E. Off the A6055, Burneston, Beadale, North Yorkshire With thanks to Oliver Davison for informing me of this Survivor. Installed within the Hill Interiors site compound is a 25 ft (8 m) base-hinged Abacus tubular steel column supporting an Atlas Alpha 3 lantern, for 250 - 400 Watt MBF (mercury vapour) lamps, and dating from the 1960s. This is the only example of its type on this site, and is positioned between the two main buildings.
The combination of the Abacus column with Alpha 3 lantern is common, and suggests a past relationship between both companies.
The rear portion of the Alpha 3's bowl has distorted, suggesting that a lamp of too high a wattage for the lantern was once fitted - though as even a 400 Watt lamp would be overkill for the area requiring illumination, this seems unlikely.
