134G. Chapman's Road / Woodside Road, Sundridge, Sevenoaks, Kent With thanks to Dwight for informing me of these Survivors. Located on this small housing estate are two 15 ft (5 m) 'Avenue 2D' concrete columns and 'Banstead' shepherd's crook brackets; both made by Concrete Utilities. The lanterns fitted to these brackets appear to be Revo C10067s (the forerunner to the later C14408/T "Bell Top" design) from the 1940s, which were designed to run 80 - 125 Watt MB/V / MBF (mercury vapour) lamps. These two columns are likely to be original to when the estate was constructed; the fact that they were still operational in 2024 is remarkable. A newer column that does support a C14408/T exists on Woodside Road, and may have been a later replacement for another Avenue 2D column.

The first of the two concrete columns is to be seen towards the western end of Chapman's Road.

Although contemporary catalogues state that the C10067 had copper bodywork, these examples appear to be cast iron painted green, as rust is showing through the paint. The tip of the bracket is damaged, but the installation is otherwise in excellent condition, particularly given that it was around 80 years old when pictured.

A prismatic glass refractor bowl hangs beneath an enamelled reflector.

The second concrete column is to be found at the start of a short footpath link to Manor Road.

Conversely, this bracket is in better condition, although the lantern is in worse - its paint is flaking, and there is a large rust patch on the reflector.

A simple tubular steel column with gently curving bracket supports the Bell Top. Google Street View imagery shows that there were more of these lanterns installed throughout the estate in the past; albeit, attached to swan neck brackets.

This too has a surrounding reflector - ordinarily, the Bell Top did not have this extra feature.

The bowl here is misaligned in relation to the carriageway.
