164A. Off Southam Road, Long Itchington, Warwickshire Situated at the entrance to a cement works is a 15 ft (5 m) 'Avenue 2D' concrete column and 'Banstead' shepherd's crook bracket, both made by Concrete Utilities. The installation supports a derelict top-entry lantern, but remains of use as it supports modern CCTV camera equipment.
The installation, presumably, became redundant when new sheet steel columns were installed along the access road. Originally, these supported gear-in-head Thorn Alpha 3 lanterns, but all were replaced with a more modern lantern at some point after 2009.
A portion of the prismatic refractor remains within the lantern, as does part of the lamp.
A short section of exposed ducting exists in the ground in front of the column base - I assume that this may carry the new supply cable for the camera equipment.
