170BC. Off Albion Street, St Matthew's, Leicester With thanks to Leo Conway for discovering these Survivors. Situated within a compound belonging to BT are two ELECO 'Silverline' 15 ft (5 m) aluminium columns with HW 1226-3 short outreach side-entry brackets and HW-918 / 922 lanterns, for 80 - 125 Watt MBF (mercury vapour) lamps. A further wall-mounted example, fitted to a B53 bracket (also made by ELECO), is visible from the entrance to the compound.

The usually unpainted columns have had a black finish applied, which also extends to the lantern canopies.

The foreground lantern sports a glass refractor bowl.

The second column featured a lantern with a Perspex bowl instead.

The wall-mounted example was dayburning when photographed, revealing that it did, indeed, run an MBF lamp.

A length of 20 mm steel conduit carries the cabling to this example, which also featured a Perspex bowl.
