170BE. Off Melton Street, St Matthew's, Leicester With thanks to Leo Conway for discovering these Survivors. Attached to a premises that serves as a vehicle repair garage, near the junction of Wanlip Street, are two Phosware (CU Phosco) P177 lanterns, for 60 - 150 Watt GLS (incandescent), or 80 - 125 Watt MBF (mercury vapour), lamps. Google Street View imagery suggests that the P177s pre-date the current building's owner, although even back then, the fittings may have become disused, as two halogen floodlights also installed on the building are later products. LED floodlights added subsequently add additional confirmation of their obsolescence.

The two P177s are installed symmetrically, with the shutter door being positioned centrally.

Both lanterns incorporate glass refractor bowls, but the left-hand example appears to have had paint applied to it.

The bowl on the right-hand example has not received such modifications.
