197J. Radcliffe Road, Redvales, Hollins, Bury, Greater Manchester With thanks to Dwight for informing me of this Survivor. Located opposite Lilac Avenue, and positioned alongside a signalised pedestrian crossing, is a 25 ft (8 m) tubular steel column, made by Stewart & Lloyd, and supporting a Revo Hyperion 'A' lantern, dating from the late 1950s, or early 1960s, and fitted with a 135 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium) lamp. Depending on its exact age, the lantern may have run 200 - 300 Watt SOI/H lamps originally, before the former of these gave way to the 150 Watt SOX, which was re-rated later to become the 135 Watt size. Some versions of the Hyperion ran linear low pressure sodium (SLI/H) lamps instead, although this particular example appears to have used single-ended lamps for its entire life, rather than being converted to this type from SLI/H later. Sadly, the lantern lost its Perspex bowl at some point after August 2023.

The lantern emerges from the tree canopy, and avoids its output being obscured by the leaves.

The characteristic cranked Stewart & Lloyd bracket with support webbing allows this elevation to occur.

With the bowl having (apparently) broken away, the underside of the lamp features a line of rainwater droplets.
