202IC. Lingheath Road, Brandon, Suffolk The rare and unusual Survivors in this Suffolk town continue with this Concrete Utilities 'Byway NX' 15 ft (5 m) column supporting a Phosware (CU Phosco) P177 lantern near the start of the cul-de-sac. On one of my many previous visits to the town, this lantern was day burning, revealing that it still ran an 80 Watt MBF (mercury vapour) lamp; the fault has been rectified subsequently.

By 2024, this was the only P177 to remain on this small self-contained housing estate, although a second example on the adjoining Bracken Rise still existed in 2009.

The retro-fitted Telensa Telecell appears rather bulky when fitted to such a small lantern.

As the lantern features a glass refractor bowl, no discolouration from the lamp's UV exposure has occurred.
