21AAA. Queen's Hospital, Belvedere Road, Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire With thanks to AgentHalogen_87 for informing me of this Survivor. Attached to one of the hospital buildings (possibly, the main boiler house) by means of a wall bracket is a 1960s' Atlas Beta 3 lantern, which would have run a 60 Watt SO/H or SOI/H lamp originally, but more recently, would have run the equivalent 35 Watt SOX lamp. Sadly, the lantern now lies disused, with both its lamp and bowl missing, although the lamp control gear remains within the lantern. Even by June 2009, the lantern had fallen into this abandoned state. No other Beta 3s were attached to the building, or existed within the hospital grounds.

The Beta 3 would have lit a narrow loading bay area just off Belvedere Road itself.

The lantern's canopy is plastic, as would have been the bowl.

A central steel spine supports the control gear, with the capacitor being visible towards the front of the lantern, and the ballast immediately behind.

The installation is likely to be original to when this building was constructed - a shame that it has become abandoned.

Although the bowl is missing, the perimeter outline is visible, thanks to the fixed support frame and sealing gasket.
