21BC. Off the A38 Lichfield Road, Dunstall, Branston, Staffordshire Attached to the office building for Marley Roof Tiles are several unknown floodlights that appear to have been designed for running low pressure sodium lamps - either single-ended (SOX), or double-ended (SLI/H), owing to their rather large, bulky construction. In the modern era, however, they look to have been converted to accommodate 'long' compact fluorescent lamps instead, although I do not believe that they operate at night anyway.
Two of the fittings are installed on the front of the building, while a third was spotted around the left-hand side.
The floodlights are fitted with twin optics, with a single lamp in each. My thinking that these were converted to compact fluorescent stems from the fact that both lamps are seen to be installed on a slight diagonal, whereas the original lamps would have been positioned more centrally.
The close-up of the second example shows the box-like front section that bolts to the more angular rear part.
