38F. Stanley Drive, Bramcote Hills, Bramcote, Nottinghamshire Installed a short distance from Stanley Drive's junction with Ilkeston Road is a 10 ft (3 m) fluted cast iron column fitted with a swan neck bracket and later Thorn Beta 2 lantern for 55 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium) lamps. The setup was typical for many residential streets around Nottinghamshire, particularly, in the early-mid 2000s, though SOX lanterns are now very rare within the County, owing to LED replacements, making this installation all the more notable by November 2024. Even the cast iron columns are not as common as they once were, with many having been replaced with 6 m tubular steel products in conjunction with the LED work.

The installation is similar in appearance to those seen on Northern Drive, Trowell.

The swan neck bracket appears to be a later replacement that has been secured into the older ESLA fuse / time switch box using a pipe reducer.

This could be a very late example of a Beta 2 (or the bowl itself is), as the plastic contains a 'PMMA' (Polymethyl Methacrylate) recycling triangle - something that I have never seen on a Thorn bowl previously. The SELC / Westire 8480 photocell was fitted here at some point after April 2022, suggesting that the lantern is still receiving maintenance visits, rather than being replaced completely. Possibly, there may be asbestos present in the door seal of the ESLA box, which could prevent the door from being opened, and the lantern replaced.
