3A. Off Duffield Bank, Duffield Leading up the relatively steep driveway to the Bankwood Care Home are several fluted cast iron columns with inline Horstmann time switch boxes. Sadly, all but one of these installations have had their original swan neck brackets replaced with functional tubular steel post-top brackets supporting twin floodlights; however, one solitary example retains its bracket and ESLA Bi-Multi two-way facetted reflector lantern (though it is disused). I seem to recall that the old brackets survived into the mid-2000s, although I hadn't appreciated that one had been left alone until 2017. I assume that all of the columns were used elsewhere originally, but were moved to this driveway when the Care Home opened, to provide illumination to anyone using the road at night.

The column is relatively short, with the swan neck bracket adding extra height to the installation.

As with my own example of an ESLA, this version features figured mirror tile facets; most of which are intact and undamaged.

The Horstmann time switch enclosure is positioned between the column and the bracket.

The lettering on the box's front panel (the back panel is hinged too) is difficult to discern in this instance.

Typically, this installation is situated at the top of the sloped driveway - its steepness indicated by the presence of numerous bags of rock salt for de-icing the road in cold weather, along with several bins for housing the same throughout the length of the driveway.

The lantern is misaligned very slightly - the finial not being fully 'plumb' with the bracket.

The bayonet lampholder remains in the lantern, awaiting the day when it might (once again) run a lamp.

The number 1552 is cast into the column shaft - this could be an old maintenance number from its days in use on a street.

One of the columns fitted with the revised bracket is seen below; the others are all the same as this.

The Horstmann box is of a different design, and the wording is clearer ("The Newbridge Timeswitch - Bath, England"), on this example.
