57AN. Off Dunwoody Way, Coppenhall, Crewe, Cheshire With thanks to Leo Conway for discovering this Survivor. Installed on railway land that is adjacent Dunwoody Way is a steel pole supporting a Holophane 310 lantern, possibly provided to provide illumination over part of the DB (Deutsche Barn) Cargo UK (as it is now) sidings. The lantern, which has its origins in the 1950s, could accommodate high wattage GLS (incandescent) and 250 - 400 Watt MA/V (medium pressure mercury vapour) lamps.
The installation is pictured from the convenient vantage point of the car park of the Crewe Home Furnishings building.
Even from this distance, the prismatic refractors moulded into the glass bowl are visible.
