69CAG. Ruskin Place Business Centre, Off Oldbury Road, West Smethwick, Rood End, Sandwell, West Midlands With thanks to Dwight for informing me of this Survivor. Installed adjacent a building that historical maps describe as a "Radiator works" (or at least, a building that occupied the same patch of land that the present one does) is a Stanton 10 15 ft (5 m) concrete column, supporting an 'F'-type top-entry bracket and Revo C1440#/T "Bell Top" lantern. The column is in poor condition at its joint with the bracket, and whilst the lantern is intact, it is probably not in use any longer, particularly as two Philips SNK 70s (the "Kombipak" version of the MI 55) are installed above the building's loading bays.

This is the only column within the Business Centre compound, although again, historical maps show a more defined cul-de-sac than exists today. Therefore, further examples may have existed formerly.

The column's advanced levels of spalling are apparent here. I hope that the lantern can be saved before the structural failure can progress much further - it looks to be fitted with its original (and highly fragile) outer glass bowl.

A lamp remains within the lantern, surrounded by a prismatic glass refractor dome. A patch of dirt in the bottom of the bowl would hamper any light being beamed directly downwards.

Much of the concrete has disappeared completely from the column, with it breaking away in chunks as the internal steel pipe has expanded through corrosion.
