72AC. Chorlton Terrace, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire With thanks to AgentHalogen_87 for informing me of this Survivor. Not visible from the road, owing to its position, but seen once the end of Chorlton Terrace is reached, is a 1930s' Stanton 1 concrete column fitted with a cast iron swan neck bracket, which has been modified to accommodate a modern INDO Air 1 side-entry LED lantern. At the time, Stanton did not produce brackets for their columns, meaning that these had to be sourced separately, though by the late 1940s, they were selling this type of column with their 'A'-type swan neck bracket, as used on the 7 column series, as an option.
Despite the column being on a road without adoptive status, it is believed to be maintained as a public street light.
The ladder bars are wrapped in insulation tape - I suspect that the concrete must be in poor condition beneath, and this has been applied to hold them together, as best as possible.
The whole installation only appears about 3 m (10 ft) high, though Stanton offered this type of column in heights of 9', 11', 12'6" and 14'.
I wonder how many different lanterns and lamp types that this installation has seen in its lifetime.
