81BF. Off Parkstone Avenue, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of these Survivors. Located adjacent (and within) the Stubbs Walk park area are a number of 15 ft (5 m) Stanton 10 concrete columns. Whilst most of these are now fitted with newer lanterns, two retain CU Phosco P107 post-tops, which could be original to when the columns were installed. The P107s both run 26 Watt SOX-E (economy low pressure sodium) lamps, which are the same physical size as the more common 35 Watt type, and would have used these lamps when new, but Staffordshire's preference was always to use SOX-E lamps in later years, despite not using dedicated SOX-E lamp control gear, which means that the lamps run as regular SOX types anyway.

The first P107 is to be found on a narrow roadway that leads to Lancaster Road.

The bare lamp is visible within the transparent (and slightly cracked) bowl. As the P107 was designed with the Concrete Utilities' range of columns, the octagonal base section of the lantern doesn't match the profile of the Stanton column quite correctly. Circular base sections were produced as alternatives, however.

The second P107 was to be found at the West Street / Mount Pleasant end of Stubbs Walk.
