81D. Off Mount Road, Stone, Staffordshire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of these Survivors. Attached to one of the buildings within the Mount Industrial Estate (formerly, the site of a brewery) are two side-entry lanterns that resemble products from Holophane's '310' series. One of the two lanterns has a broken bowl and no lamp, and although the other is intact, it may have fallen into disuse too.
The damaged example is pictured first - the adjacent (dayburning) floodlight serving as the modern replacement.
The lanterns are similar in appearance to GEC's 'Difractor' products, which were part of their 'Clearmain' range.
The bowl glass is especially thick, and breaking it must have taken some force.
The second example is to be found around the corner.
The supply cable for this bracket emerges from the wall in a length of steel conduit.
Apart from the differing bowl types, these lanterns are identical in appearance to the mystery lanterns seen off Mariner, in Tamworth.
