97EA. Jerry's Lane, Botany Bay, Swinfen and Packington, Whittington Heath, Lichfield, Staffordshire With thanks to AgentHalogen_87 for informing me of this Survivor. Located near the junction with Tamworth Road, where the run of houses stops, is a 15 ft (5 m) GEC concrete column with top-entry cranked swan neck bracket and later Thorn Beta 5 35 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium) lantern - a classic Staffordshire combination. Historical Google Street View imagery reveals that the adjacent Levett Road used to have identical lighting installed, but this was replaced at some point after August 2010, leaving this column as the sole survivor from the earlier lighting scheme.

As always, the GEC concrete column range was rather functional in its design.

The bracket appearing as an angular, tapering continuation of the column is a feature from this range.

The presence of a Zodion SS55 two-part photocell detector suggests that the lamp control gear may not be housed within the Beta 5 itself, but in the column base.

The original GEC-branded door has been replaced with a modern sheet steel replacement at some point.
