97KD. Lichfield Street, Rugeley, Brereton, Cannock Chase, Staffordshire With thanks to Dwight for informing me of this Survivor. Located on the short section of Lichfield Street that links St Paul's Road and Talbot Street is a 15 ft (5 m) Stanton 10 concrete column with an 'F'-type top-entry bracket and GEC Z9539 55 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium) lantern. Formerly, a second, wall-mounted example existed closer to the junction of St Paul's Road, but this was changed to an Urbis Altra compact fluorescent lantern at some point after June 2018.

The aforementioned wall bracket is visible in the background of this photograph.

Despite the Z9539 having the lamp control gear housed within it, a Zodion SS55 two-part photocell is employed (the detector is visible on the front of the canopy), as trying to install a NEMA socket (to accommodate a one-part photocell) would be tricky, especially with the lantern featuring a curved canopy and being designed before NEMA photocell switching became commonplace.

Just visible around the column base is a newer patch of reinstated Tarmac - a possible indicator of a past electricity supply fault to the column that required the excavation (and probable replacement) of the original joint that was made onto the underground electricity main in the footway.

As these lanterns are prone to trapping water in their bowls, a small drainage hole is often drilled in the underside by operatives; this lantern is no exception - a hole is present in the front of the bowl.
