97KE. Chaseside Drive, Hednesford, Cannock, Staffordshire With thanks to AgentHalogen_87 for informing me of these Survivors. Attached to a vehicle repair garage are four AC Ford swan neck brackets, all supporting Simplex Diadem lanterns that run 80 Watt MBF (mercury vapour) lamps. As swan neck brackets are designed to be mounted to columns, and not walls, they have been modified using clamps that attach to the surrounding brickwork - a novel idea. I am uncertain as to whether the brackets would have been used as street lights originally, or whether they were fitted new at this location.

Poking the camera through the gates at the entrance to the yard allowed three of the brackets to be observed. As can be seen, all lanterns were lit at the time of photographing, and judging by the dimness of each lamp, probably had been for some time.

The foreground installation appears to defy gravity in the way that it is supported!

The dim output was worsened by the bowls requiring cleaning, as well as having discoloured with age.

The third example had the dimmest lamp of the group - the sunlight making it appear unlit in this image.

The supply cable for the fourth example was encased in flexible conduit; however, due to weathering, much of this has fallen away, leaving the cable exposed.

At least, the working lamp proved that the supply was still live.
