Off High Road, Hampstead Garden Suburb, London Borough of Barnet Installed in a small communal parking area to the side of East Finchley Underground station are three 1980s' 10 m sheet steel columns produced by CU Phosco, with each of these columns topped with a P179 lantern, also made by CU. These lanterns are the 'big brother' of the similar P178 post-top, and could accommodate single or twin 200 Watt GLS (incandescent tungsten filament) lamps, up to 400 Watt SON (high pressure sodium), MBF (mercury vapour) or MBI (metal halide) lamps, when the lamp control gear was installed remotely, a 90 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium) lamp, one or two 250 Watt SON, MBF or MBI lamps (the twin lamp version only being available with remotely-geared examples once again), two 55 Watt SOX lamps, or two 125 Watt MBF lamps, making it a rather versatile product. These particular examples are believed to run SON lamps, although the wattage and quantity of these is not known.

Two of the three columns are seen in this view, with the red brick structure of Hospitality House providing a backdrop.

The satin black paint applied to the canopies and base castings is still present on all three lanterns.

The base casting appears to be the same type as used in far smaller CU Phosco products, such as the P107 and P111.

The final installation in the triangle is the closest to High Road itself.

Unused threaded holes exist at the tops of all three column shafts, for screwing grub screws into, on the occasions when columns of this type would support bracket arms instead of post-top lanterns.
