Meredith Close, Eton Park. Horninglow and Eton, Stretton, Burton-upon-Trent, East Staffordshire With thanks to AgentHalogen_87 for informing me of this Survivor. Much as with Marston Lane, Rolleston-on-Dove, the stump of a long-removed concrete column remains in place, owing to later fencing installed by a resident being positioned closely to the column base. As with the Marston Lane example, this Stanton 7 base was previously incorporated into a low wall, making removal difficult without causing damage. Whilst the replacement of the wall with the fence would now make removal easier, a gap would still be left in the boundary line, and so the stump has been left alone. Even in 2009, the rest of the column had been removed.

Still visible on the truncated column's door is the 'x' that (presumably) meant that the column was to be removed. A light covering of whitewash has been applied to the stump, in an attempt to allow the concrete to blend in.

A very unusual sight - the inside of a Stanton 7 column shaft! Notice the tips of the steel reinforcement bars in the concrete, and consider how thick the wall is between the outside and the central cable hole.
