Fish Hill, Riverside, Redditch, Worcestershire With thanks to Leo Conway for informing me of this Survivor. Installed in a car park, but facing Fish Hill itself, is a 15 ft (5 m) Concrete Utilities' 'Byway-X' column with a short outreach 15° side-entry bracket and P141 lantern, made by CU's lantern division, Phosware. In the modern era, these lanterns are especially rare, owing to their using twin 2 ft (600 mm) 20 or 40 Watt MCF/U (linear fluorescent) lamps - a technology that became redundant from street lighting relatively quickly. A second Byway-X column, which, presumably, also supported a P141 originally, now supports two floodlights that do face into the car park area, suggesting that the P141 has become abandoned.

The column's straddling of two parking spaces makes it vulnerable to vehicular collisions, although I did not notice any significant scrapes or other damage around the base.

As the Perspex bowl has not discoloured too heavily, the two lamps remain visible within the lantern.

The lamps are arranged in a side-by-side formation. Judging by the blackening on the upper lamp (as it appears here), the lantern probably continued operating until the lamps failed, and has never received any further maintenance since then.

The low mounting height gives the installation a slightly top-heavy appearance.

The lamps look to be the MCF/A type, with a stripe formed of electrically-conductive material being applied along the tube by the manufacturer, to assist the lamp's starting capabilities when run on Quickstart gear.
