105. Great Southern Road, Aberdeen. Thanks to 'Zelandeth' for sending this information and the accompanying photographs. Just south of the Holburn Street junction are several GEC 'Clearmain' Z8403 lanterns, now all running High Pressure Sodium lamps, although they are likely to have run mercury lamps in the past. The lanterns appear to be group switched (possibly off a time switch), as a number were dayburning when the photographs were taken. Two distinctive bracket types can be seen supporting these lanterns - some highly ornate cast iron designs, as well as some 1950s/60s reproductions using bolted-on steel fins painted in the same style as the cast iron examples. As with the Z8403s seen on page 35, there appears to have been some dispute as to which way round to install the lanterns!

Also on this road, believed to be at the junction with Allanvale Road, is a GEC Z8430CM, again running a dayburning SON lamp:
