185e. Church Street, Connah's Quay, Deeside Located on a small forecourt area serving a car washing business are two tubular steel base-hinged Abacus columns supporting Atlas Alpha 3 250 Watt MBF lanterns. A third column existed on the site, but had been removed by 2016, leaving just these two installations, and even these may not be operational, owing to the presence of a newer floodlight and wiring installed on one of the columns.

The column is held upright by two bands that are strapped around the base area.

The lanterns are in good condition, with the under-lamp painted reflector spots on the bowls remaining, and the corrugated aluminium reflector above the lamp suggesting that these are earlier examples than my own version is.

The second column cannot be hinged down for maintenance, owing to a temporary building having been positioned immediately behind it.

Interestingly, both lanterns show water ingress drip lines emanating away from all four bowl clips.
