91. High Street, Ticknall. Adjacent the Chequers public house is a GEC Z8896 lantern mounted on a 6 m tubular steel column. Today, a CDO-ET lamp is fitted and ran a SON-E lamp prior to this; however, it may well originally have run a mercury lamp. Control is provided by a two-part photocell located on the lantern's canopy. This lantern is a one-off in the village - the rest have all been replaced with Thorn Beta 79s and Philips MI 55s.

The lantern appears especially diminutive at the 6 m mounting height.

I can't help thinking that this installation will have had a somewhat 'chequered' career...

The bracket appears rather spindly with this lantern fitted.
