Derby's Street Lighting PFI Contract

Boundary Road, California

The table below details the lighting along this road as it appeared in 1997.

Seq. No. Lamp Number Location Lamp Type Watt Isolation Point
1 24558 OS CEMETERY SXPL1 55
2 24559 O/S CEMETERY SXPL3 55 Y
3 97711 OS NOS 1A/1 SXPL1 55
4 97712 OS NO 7 SXPL1 55
5 106363 JUNC UTTOX NEWRD FL 8

The following photographs were taken on Monday, 28th September 2015.

A GEC Z9538 55 Watt SOX lantern was fitted to the first column from Uttoxeter New Road.

Although fitted with a NEMA socket, this hadn't been fitted with a photocell. Given that the above inventory records indicate that the following column is a control point, the photocell fitted to the other lantern probably also switches this installation.

The installation at the top of the road was dayburning at the time of photographing.

A Zodion SS3DR photocell is fitted - this may not necessarily have failed; as I recall, these photocells have a habit of bypassing their switching function if there is a momentary interruption in the electricity supply, causing their load to operate constantly. Unfortunately, the only way to 'reset' the cell in this state is to cut its supply for around a minute.
