The following photographs were taken on Saturday, 11th December 2010.
All of the outgoing lanterns installed along this road were Thorn Beta 5s, of varying ages. The first column from Carlton Avenue (a CU hockey stick; dating from the early-mid 2000s) was fitted with such a lantern.
This was followed by a 5 m tubular steel Stainton column supporting a shallow-bowled lantern.
The considerable width between the carriageway edge and property frontages necessitated the requirement for an additional column on the bend, for the PFI scheme. A hinged column was therefore installed in this location.
A veteran unsleeved Stanton 7 concrete column followed, complete with top-entry Beta 5. By the time that these photographs were taken, unsleeved columns were very much a dying breed; being made virtually extinct on public roads in the City due to PFI replacements.
A side-entry lantern, dating from the early-mid 1980s was next.
Another hockey stick then came into view; this was likely to be of the same age as the hockey stick seen earlier, was.
Finally, another 1980s' example was situated opposite the footpath leading to Queensferry Gardens.
