Derby's Street Lighting PFI Contract
Chartwell Drive, City Centre
The equipment being removed consisted of the following items in 1997:
Seq. No. | Lamp Number | Location | Lamp Type | Watt | Isolation Point |
1 | 97142 | O/S MERTRUX | SXPL2 | 90 | |
2 | 97143 | O/S MERTRUX | SXPL2 | 90 |
The following photographs were taken on Saturday, 13th November 2010:
The two outgoing columns on this short road ended their days with GEC Z9464 90 Watt SOX lanterns fitted. However, I believe that alternative lanterns (possibly Thorn Alpha 1s) were fitted when new. The columns are probably made to an imperial height, as they are definitely taller than an 8 m column (and a 25 ft column, for that matter), so are probably 30ft in height - about 9 m in "modern money".
The lanterns are fitted with their own photocells, meaning that the original column-mounted cells have lain disused since the Z9464s were fitted. In the case of this installation, the older photocell appears to be a 1970s' Fisher Karpark SS9 part-night device.
